Accessing IPMI

Use out-of-band management (IPMI / remote KVM) on supported dedicated servers to reach the console, mount ISOs and power-cycle the server.

IPMI (also called remote KVM or out-of-band management) gives you console access to a dedicated server independently of its operating system – useful for OS installs and recovery.

Availability

IPMI access depends on the server model and location. If your welcome email does not include IPMI details, ask our support team whether it can be enabled for your server.

Connecting

  1. For security, IPMI is usually reachable only through a VPN or from whitelisted IP addresses. Send us your IP address if access needs to be allowed.
  2. Open the IPMI address in your browser and log in with the credentials provided.
  3. Use Remote Control → Console (or KVM) for screen access, and Virtual Media to mount an ISO.

Good practice

  • Change the IPMI password after first login.
  • Log out when finished – most controllers allow only one console session.
  • If IPMI is not available, use Rescue mode for recovery tasks.
